Writing as Hicks' former commanding officer aboard USS FIFE, Capt. Huber said he saw his courage, commitment, and honesty firsthand — and credited him with taking an underperforming crew and turning it into the most combat-ready ship in Washington state.
CDR Maceda served as Hicks' division officer in the engineering department aboard USS CAMDEN during deployment to the Western Pacific and North Arabian Sea. He calls him the most consummate professional he served with in 24 years, and a shipmate whose technical expertise set the standard for others.
